House Plan Ideas

This “study help” should help you identify top features of a design that are essential for how you want to have.

1. Find The Front Door.

It’s designated simply with door swings, or “Entry” “Foyer,” or even”Entry Gallery”. If leading door opens directly to the living or eating out space there’s often no notation, just the door swing action. Door swings trace the swing of the entranceway in and out — good to bear in mind as you think about furniture placement. Slipping doors are observed not as swings but as skinny lines parallel to — but thinner than — the type of the wall.

2. Emotionally Walk Through The Plan.

From leading door go to the kitchen, living room or living room and then to the bed rooms. Imagine starting all the entry doors on the program. Will there be a graceful easy, and successful circulation between rooms and areas?

Furniture on the plan helps give range to each space. Amenities are essential but if the traffic circulation is awkward the home won’t live easily. Think about how the kitchen connects to the dining room or living room, where most people live.

3. Gauge The Storage Entry.

Follow the path from storage to kitchen. This is actually the way most people get into a house; circulation should be clear and easy without restricted corners so to arrive with groceries or other items is as convenient as you can.

4. Note Room Sizes.

These are usually contained in the floor plan but on Houseplans.com sometimes the measurements are shown on the program Detail Site under the tab “More Plan Information.” Compare the posted sizes to your own connection with comfortable room sizes. Do that by measuring the width, length, and height of one or two of the rooms you’re surviving in now, or of rooms you prefer.

5. Smoke Out The Fireplace.

Is there room for furniture around it? I like what sort of great room fireplace in modern prairie style plan 48-255 is part of your wall with built-in safe-keeping for marketing and books.

A fireplace too near to a doorway is not so useful.

6. Search for Safe-keeping.

Are the closets adequate and where they need to be? Ideally, storage areas should suit the kind of thing being stored: jackets and boots in a mudroom; large racks for CostCo materials, etc.,

7. Analysis The Stairway(s).

Will there be full level over it — creating an open feel — or will it just disappear in to the ceiling, making an area feel small and cramped. The stair in Plan 454-14 increases in what’s, in effect, a huge light well, brightening adjoining spaces.

8. Watch Window Placement.

Home windows on two factors of an area balance daylight and generate a spacious feeling; house windows on just one side of an area develop a cave-like feeling and promote glare. Windows set saturated in a wall can provide daylight while protecting privacy; however an area with these high glass windows, often called clerestories, will feel small and boxy if it does not likewise have lower glass windows on another wall for views.
